Invitations and Calligraphy A Wedding Must Have

Not yet have I seen an Evite for a wedding BUT that doesn't mean that they don't exist. I have seen DYI invites that have been very nice, but ask me how many mistakes I correct from those ordering invitations online and DYI's. I would have to tell you, many per month.
There is good reason why this happens....It is your FIRST time creating an invite.

These are some of the things I correct: No return address on the outer envelope, bad RSVP dates, missing RSVP envelope, forgot to order extra envelopes. The order is lost in UPS and there is no time to re-order, paper quality not acceptable.

After 25 years in the wedding business, I can help you get your dream invitation
and get it right the first time. You will save headache, time & money. I guarantee.

Calligrapher in Orange, Celebrity Story

My name is Karen Jewell, in the biz 25 years as a calligrapher. I can tell you some stories.
www.CalligraphytotheStars.com
I was called to do calligraphy for Princess Lee Radziwell in 1988,
she is the late Jackie Kennedy's sister. She was the celebrity heading the grand opening of the first Giorgio Armani Boutique, in Beverly Hills. She was headquartered at the quaint & secluded
Bel Air Hotel in an elegant cottage. I was invited to see what she needed done.

As I walked up the shady path way, I saw a small pretty blonde
woman sitting in a chair by the window. I introduced myself & she immediately said, " You are quite pretty." I had a seat & got out some samples I had in my portfolio. She was easy to talk to & explained that they were going to need me a full day at the Biltmore Hotel to do the escort cards for the table seating. She gave me a list of the elite, high powered movers & shakers in the movie industry and social circles, politicians and dignitaries. I began with those. "Why all day at the Biltmore? I asked myself. We bid each other farewell & I went home to work.

Press releases and articles flooded the L.A. Times social section and were more than unkind to Ms. Radziwell, stating that she had no idea of the social circle on the west coast & had no business in charge of inviting or seating. The calls, I received from Lee, were usually from a limosine enroute to prestigious places I imagined. She was very respectful of my work and was polite when I had to put her on hold.

The day came for the Armani event at the old Biltmore Hotel downtown L.A. My arrival was on time at 10 AM. I was to meet her in the suite of rooms she held. There were several rooms & people in all of them, bustling about
I noticed that Lee was almost in tears, something about an article that had come out in this morning's paper. I suddenly knew why I was cast for the
role of calligrapher, she certainly had a large selection of talent and I was not even listed in the phone book. My heart went out to her. Knowing that she was Catholic, I asked her if she wanted me to pray for her & she said yes. There was a short prayer of encouragement and divine intervention and we then went up to the big workroom, where we would eat lunch & both spend the day, laboring over lists & lists of the well to do, well known.

It was a hectic day, still drudging on as people arrived and walked the red carpet that night. My job was to be constantly changing the seating arrangement,as Lee would field calls from so & so, director, actress, attorney, publisist, etc.who demanded to be "moved from table" as they could no longer sit at the same table with so & so, because there had been a "dispute."

As I walked out the Biltmore's front door, going the wrong way on the red carpet, the clear cut picture came to mind. Poor Lee had been sacrificed to the ferocious Hollywood dogs. A no win situation for anyone, except for maybe Giorgio and his new Armani Boutique and my opportunity to console
a sweet, lovely, dignified lady who had a soft heart and the courage to
rank & file Hollywood's most fickle & unruly bunch. More life lessons to learn from the have & have nots & by that I mean class, humility & heart.
Stay tuned, as I have many more encounters.
